Then maybe a career in Animal Assisted Activities (pet therapy) is a good choice for your dog!

There are a few  different avenues of dogs doing pet therapy:

• Nursing Homes
• Hospice
• Hospitals
• Schools
• Reading Programs

Your dog needs to feel comfortable & enjoy the avenue of Animal Assisted Activities (pet therapy) that you choose to volunteer for.

Here are some things that your dog needs to accomplish in order to become a good dog for Animal Assisted Activities (pet therapy):

•  If your dog is a puppy then he/she needs to be attending our AKC STAR Puppy classes to get ready for Beginner Obedience.
• If 16 weeks or older, then needs to be in our Beginner 1 class
• After successfully completing Beginner 1, the next step is Beginner 2/Canine Good Citizen Class  
• We also offer private lessons in training for Animal Assisted Activities (pet therapy) for dogs of any age

After accomplishing these goals I send you to a TDInc Evaluator or Delta Society Evaluator to get certified for their programs (dog must be a minimum of 1 year of age for certification)
